Why am I here? I’m a learner and a thinker. There’s so much in my head all the time. It needs a place to be expressed, but more importantly, I have a desire to share. Sharing enables us to hear what others are thinking and feeling, and we can continue to build on each others’ thoughts towards something greater.
I love building connections between different disciplines, to discover something new that was perhaps always there but not openly considered. Creativity comes from the combination of existing things to make something new.
Which comes to the naming and theme behind this blog. I think of creativity as a river. The water flowing in it is analogous to creative thought and potential. The banks provide the constraint needed to allow the water to flow. When a tributary merges with another, the river becomes larger. The river nourishes life within and on its banks, making life flourish. To me, leadership is about enabling this creative flow of knowledge, providing direction, the banks, the merging & connections.
I have some amount of convergence with my wandering journey through disciplines. I have a musical background from my years as a young adult. I ventured into poetry and married an oil painter. I studied library & information sciences and learned about how to organize and find information. I got my first job at a library software automation company where I learned about technology and the many facets of running a business. Today, I work at Adobe as a digital employee experience leader with a focus in product management, knowledge, and insights.
Please join me as I muse on the topic of the day, week, or month. I would love to hear your thoughts, whether you agree or disagree. The hope is that we all learn together and create something new!
